The Atlantic Chamber Ensemble presents a Steampunk Gala concert April 7, 2012, in Richmond, Virginia. From their website:
“ACE loves the idea of imagining a present or a future that is different because of choices we could have made in the past. In that spirit, we will present pairs of works, each exloping the re-imagination of some musical or artistic feature…poetry will be “reimagined”, the composer will be “reimagined”, the concerto will be “reimagined”! Ultimately, we will question where we fit into this ever more digital world, while we make the case that making things with your hands…especially music…is an essential part of art and life!”
The central piece called Steampunk by British composer David Bruce.
APRIL 7th, 8:00PM

1st my warmest greetings to the illustrious & dynamic extended family of the Von Hedwigs ,which would have to include dear Capt.Eve Charette who’ll rise to level of commadore no doubt ( ahem , the difference being a captain has the sky-cred to fly *her* own airship whilst a commadore has the credentialed authority to fly *any* airship ).
I thoroughly enjoyed being able to recapture and once again share our kinship of inspired & divine madness at this past July 3rd gathering at the Captain’s homebase.
It is thus with this preamble to get to the meat of the nut of the reason I am executing my 1st posting. I followed your link to the Atlantic Chamber Ensemble and was captivated by this new music for, as they say,for the 21st century. Being ever on the hunt for new ear-worthy music I’m more than satisfied by this new find c/o the Steampunk Family and their ever-alert and dutiful deliverance to an ever-widening audience.
I am moved to forthrightly state this in photonic print because it brings to mind a quote I’d coined early in this 21st century that rises to a benignly-fevered mind that I would pass on to you:
” Without music or a sense of humor in this world, one would surely go mad”.
sincerely,
