This was the scene New Year’s Eve when 2010 became 2011, and a ridiculous amount of fun was had at the Clockwork Ball Masquerade at Davenport & Winkleperry. Hosted by the beautiful and talented Davenport Sisters, the Clockwork Ball is a bi-monthly party for steampunks and other fun-lovers.
Davenport & Winkleperry is a multifaceted endeavor, with an art gallery/toy shop/place of fascinating things, a delicious coffee shop (and believe me, Madame von Hedwig does not settle when it comes to coffee), and a music venue/night club. Follow the link above and see the variety of events hosted there – gaming, crafting, writing, and sketching meet-ups, art openings, BritPop and Goth nights, steampunk gatherings!
D&W was the first brick and mortar steampunk gallery in the U.S., and I believe such a grand undertaking deserves our support. But how may I support this valuable resource, you may ask, if I do not live in the neighborhood? Thusly, I say. Pitch in a few dollars and help pay down some of the start-up costs, and be proud that you support creative, community-building steampunks!
